Yay! Validation at last! Dan & I's joint project "Book of Journeys" was accepted by Waaw in Senegal so off there in May/June and I was accepted by Inner Zone in Romania for a short residency in April. I am concentrating on fragments of the body, small muscle groups, to illustrate a sense of anomie in modern society. Divorced from a wider picture, existing in a bubble on unreality, the real morphs into
I am feeling more creative, able to work at least on some level again. I have spent a busy day trying to be productive and proactive and get myself back on track towards my goals and it seems to be working. yes, it sucks to be back here but I need to keep moving creatively and not let circumstances control me so
Well, I now have all my stuff and no excuse not to work - well aside from the fact things aren't quite unpacked yet. I am in the midst of a crippling creative block and feel stuck. There are germs of ideas that pop into my head occasionally but then they evaporate before I can even sketch them out. I miss the rigid schedule of art school and am quite lost without it.
But, my studio is getting organized and it does help me feel more creative. Space is a great inspiration.
